A new build bungalow in Sutton

New Council homes are completed in time for Christmas

The first four Council homes to be built in a generation have now been completed.

Two new Council homes have been completed in Sutton at The Poplars following the handover of the first two bungalows on The Beeches, Skegby, last month.

The two-bedroom bungalows have been built to a high eco standard, featuring extra insulation and thermal efficient windows. They also have wider doorways, reinforced joists and come with wet rooms meaning they can be adapted for all disabilities.

Cllr Samantha Deakin, Ward Councillor for Sutton Central and New Cross, said:

“We are over the moon to see the completion of the first four Council homes. These homes are built to be future proof and I’m sure the new tenants will love them.”
“Seeing residents moving into these bungalows in time for Christmas is an amazing feeling. These four bungalows are just the start of our ambitious plan to deliver 100 new Council homes over the next few years. Works are progressing quickly across the District and we will soon be handing the keys over to the next set of homes.”

Five family homes are close to completion on Stoney Street in Sutton and a further fifteen properties are under construction across four derelict garage sites in Hucknall located at Chatsworth Drive, Barbara Square, Hawthorne Avenue and Chestnut Grove. The first two family homes at Hawthorne Avenue are ready for handover.

In Sutton, Davies Avenue will welcome 22 new properties in spring 2022.
