Lammas Leisure Centre set for huge investment

Plans to bring major transformation to Sutton in Ashfield’s Lammas Leisure Centre are set to begin.

The exciting developments will see the fitness suite extended, a new group cycling studio and other improvements across the centre.

Plans include:

  • Extended fitness suite and new group cycling studio
  • New fitness equipment
  • New family activity zone
  • Extensive energy investments
  • Pool equipment and feature lighting
  • Ice rink interactive gaming development
  • Development of the café and front of house

The sports hall will be transformed into a family activity zone, incorporating a TAGactive Arena – a gamified obstacle course – and soft play.

This forms part of an overall £20million investment into new and existing centres across the district from Ashfield District Council and Everyone Active. The programme aims to improve leisure provision and fulfil the health, wellbeing and activity needs of current and future generations.

Councillor Kier Barsby, Portfolio Holder for Health and Leisure said:

“The investments coming to Ashfield will mean our residents have access to state-of-the-art facilities across the entire District.
“The plans for Lammas look fantastic! The fitness suite extension is a particular highlight as we know just how popular gyms have been since they reopened in April.
“Along with the ongoing transformation at Hucknall include an new additional swimming pool and the completely new centre coming to Kirkby, these improvements prove our commitment to providing the highest quality leisure provision possible.”

Lorenzo Clark, Everyone Active’s Contract Manager, said:

“We are really excited about the future of Lammas Leisure Centre and are looking forward to the transformation of the facility getting under way.
“The raft of upgrades will equip the site superbly to serve the needs of the community over the coming years, meaning there will be something for everyone.
“This is an exciting time for leisure in Ashfield and the refurbishment at Lammas Leisure Centre is indicative of the scale of the partnership’s ambition.”
