Green Space Improvement Programme

At this week’s Cabinet plans were approved which will see a number of the Districts play areas receive investment.

Following a review of the Districts play areas, an additional £366k is being invested in a number of play areas including Healdswood, Nuncargate & Riley Recreation Grounds, West Park, Rowan Drive, Glen View and Titchfield Park, Hucknall. This is in addition to the £1.5m the Council has already committed to green space improvements by March 2021.

This ambitious programme of investment will see a number of projects start in December this year, or early in the New Year 2021, and includes:

  • completion of the stone-carved mining statues and additional car parking at Brierley Forest Park;
  • installation of the new play areas at Sorrel Drive and Skegby Road Recreation Ground;
  • improvements at West Park;
  • and the brook restoration and landscape works at Titchfield Park, Hucknall.

Cllr David Martin, Cabinet Member for Streets, Parks and Town Centres said:

“This year more than ever, our parks and green spaces have been vital for residents to get out and enjoy the great outdoors. This additional funding, on top of the £1.5m already committed, will see much needed improvements to some of the Districts smaller, neighbourhood play areas.
“We have so much planned for our parks and green spaces over the coming months, with so much already being completed, including new outdoor gym equipment at Jacksdale Recreation Ground, improvement works at Nabbs Lane playground and new play equipment at Annesley Recreation Ground. We are committed to keeping our outdoor spaces as some of the best in the County.”
