Affordable housing for Annesley
At today’s Cabinet meeting plans were agreed for a new £2 million affordable housing scheme on Wesley Street, Annesley.
The unused allotment site on Wesley Street will see the development of 12, two bedroom bungalows. Subject to planning permission being granted, the development will see much needed bungalows being added to Ashfield District Council’s housing stock.
Cllr Tom Hollis, Cabinet Member for Housing said:
“I am pleased that we are now able to start moving this development forward. We also hope to secure some funding from Homes England, that will assist in building these much in demand bungalows to an environmentally friendly near net carbon zero standard.
“The land isn’t currently used and as part of our commitment to building new affordable rent housing, we are utilising unused, council owned land across the District.”
Builds are currently underway at The Beeches, The Poplars, Stoney Street car park & Davies Avenue in Sutton, as well as a £2.4m scheme across several former garage sites in Hucknall. These developments will see 46 new homes added to the Council stock.
Cllr Hollis continues:
“We have several builds underway and more in the pipeline. We know how high the demand is for affordable rent housing and are committed to increasing the number of family homes and bungalows available in the District.”
