Audit Committee Co-Opted Independent Member

Ashfield District Council is looking to appoint a co-opted independent non-voting member on its Audit Committee.
The Audit Committee is a key component of the Council’s corporate governance. It provides a high-level focus on the audit, assurance and reporting arrangements that underpin good governance and financial standards.
The co-opted member will serve alongside the 7 elected District Councillors appointed to the Audit Committee to assist the Council in maintaining high standards of corporate governance.
The co-opted member will have a keen interest in financial matters, ability to examine evidence and complex documentation, ask searching questions, and communicate effectively. The co-opted member must possess political awareness but have no formal political affiliation.
Practical experience in the financial and/or general management of businesses or public sector organisations and professional accountancy, audit, or risk management qualification is desirable but not essential.


In accordance with Part 7 of the Council’s Constitution, the co-opted member appointed to Audit Committee shall receive an allowance of £1,080 per annum (paid monthly) plus travel expenses.

Standards Committee Co-Opted Independent Member

Ashfield District Council is looking to appoint a co-opted independent non-voting member on its Standards and Personnel Appeals Committee.
The Standards and Personnel Appeals Committee is a key component of the Council’s ethical governance. The Committee plays a key role in promoting and maintaining high standards of conduct in public life.
The co-opted member will serve alongside the 7 elected District Councillors appointed to the Standards and Personnel Appeals Committee to provide an impartial and unbiased voice in relation to ethical standards and conduct, including monitoring the Members’ Code of Conduct and also taking part in dealing with complaints referred to the Council’s Hearings Sub-Committee.
The co-opted member will have a keen interest in standards in public life, the ability to examine evidence and complex documentation, ask searching questions, and communicate effectively. The co-opted member must possess political awareness but have no formal political affiliation.


In accordance with Part 7 of the Council’s Constitution, the co-opted member appointed to the Standards and Personnel Appeals Committee shall receive an allowance of £540 per annum (paid monthly) plus travel expenses.
