Sutton in Ashfield’s best kept secret
Ashfield District Council’s Idlewells Indoor Market is on track to be one of the best indoor markets in the East Midlands thanks to the latest additions to the market.
Idlewells Indoor Market can be found tucked at the back of Idlewells Shopping Centre in Sutton, from the outside it appears to be a regular market, but step inside and you are greeted with a bright, airy, modern market hall.
The market reopened in 2018 following a £1.8million refurbishment which saw a completely new layout, opening up the space to create a bespoke shopping experience, complete with a seating area to enjoy food and drink.
The popular indoor market in Sutton recently welcomed Jon’s Fish Dish who sells fresh and frozen fish and seafood straight from Grimsby. Alongside Jon’s new stall, Larvin’s fruit and veg stall are now offering flowers and floral arrangements. With these two inclusions, Idlewells Indoor Market now offers a huge variety of products and services.
Visitors to the market can enjoy barista-style coffee, hot chocolate, tea or cooked food from one of three cafes in the food court which all cater to a range of tastes. The surrounding stalls offer fresh meat, baked goods, confectionary, books, games, cards, balloons, gifts, cheese, homeware, handbags, women’s clothing and underwear, watches, fruit and vegetables. There are several services set up in the market providing beauty treatments, watch repairs, and traditional cobbling.
Councillor Jason Zadrozny, Leader of Ashfield District Council, said
“It is incredible that in a time when other indoor markets are sadly closing up and down the country, Idlewells Indoor Market continues to grow. The market has a healthy mix of stalls and with the latest addition of Jon’s Fish Dish, and the floral offerings from Larvin’s fruit and veg stall, it really is a one-stop shop.
“The market reopened in 2018 following a £1.8million refurbishment which has helped turn it into one of the best, if not the best indoor market in the East Midlands. We see shoppers coming from as far as Newark and Lincoln to visit the market. It truly shows that Ashfield is the place to start your small business.”
