Lights for Remembrance

Ashfield District Council have installed thirteen illuminated ‘Poppy lights’ across the District as part of this year’s Remembrance Day commemorations.

Mounted across the District, the lights which illuminate after dark, will remain in place until the week after Remembrance Sunday. The Poppy lights are installed at:

  • Market Place, Hucknall
  • Urban Road, Kirkby-in-Ashfield
  • Portland Square, Sutton-in-Ashfield
  • Badger Box, Annesley
  • Market Place, Huthwaite
  • High street, Stanton Hill
  • Nottingham Road, Selston
  • Main Road, Jacksdale
  • Alfreton Road, Underwood
  • Sutton Gateway, Mansfield Road/Sutton Road
  • Fackley Road, Teversal
  • Mansfield Road, Skegby
  • Kirkby Folly Road

In addition to the light displays, three Remembrance Day commemorations and parades are scheduled to take place on Sunday 13 November in Hucknall, Sutton and Kirkby. Each parade will consist of a short service, a wreath laying and a 2-minute silence at each of the cenotaphs.

Chief Executive of the Council, Theresa Hodgkinson said: “The annual commemorations are a significant annual date that stands as a reminder to us all. We are proud to see the Poppy Lights shine as a reminder of those who gave their lives and as we honour their memory. We hope to see you at one of this year’s parades where we can stand together in memory of how we came together as a nation to face the challenges of the time”
