Hucknall’s free bulky waste collections now ready for bookings
Bookings are now open for residents of Hucknall to take advantage of Ashfield District Council’s free bulky waste collections as part of The BIG Ashfield Spring Clean.
All households now have the chance to use their one free bulky waste collection of up to three items at four points throughout the year. Collections started in Kirkby in April before moving to Hucknall in May, and Sutton in June. The rotation then starts again giving every area 4 opportunities to use the service; allowing residents to book their collection when they need it.
Hucknall’s collection months are May, August, November, and February 2024. Bookings for collections can be made up to two weeks before the collection month and can be booked online at www.ashfield.gov.uk/bulkywaste or by calling 01623 450 000.
This is part of the biggest Big Spring Clean ever with hundreds of residents getting rid of dozens of tonnes of excess waste, numerous community litter picks, planters being delivered to schools and much, much more.
Director for Housing and Assets Paul Parkinson said:
"It's great to see the Bulky Waste initiative is being used by so many residents across Ashfield. As the service comes to Hucknall in May for the first of 4 collections over 2023 and 2024, we would like to remind residents that if you don’t need your collection this time around there will be 3 more opportunities throughout 2024.
Now in its sixth year in a row, the bulky waste initiative forms part of the Ashfield Big Spring Clean which has become a favourite amongst Ashfield residents, allowing them to dispose of bulky and large items that are difficult to remove otherwise. It’s no wonder that reports of fly tipping are going down across Ashfield, and we hope to see it continue”.
