Business experts inspire creativity and innovation in Ashfield

Creativity and innovation in the workplace took the spotlight as industry experts met with business leaders in Ashfield.

Organised by Ashfield District Council, in association with Discover Ashfield, guests were welcomed to the Business Leaders Networking Event to learn more about Innovation: Bridging Creativity and Commerce. It was held at the Mour Hotel, at Sherwood Business Park.

Speakers included Simon Mosey, Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the University of Nottingham; Craig McMillan, Head of Sales and Marketing at SureScreen Diagnostics Ltd; and Bruno Ferreira, International Trade Adviser at the Department for Business and Trade for Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.

The speakers informed and entertained guests as they shared their knowledge on all things relevant to innovation and talked about how businesses need to revalue creativity. This can bring a range of benefits from driving economic growth and creating jobs to promoting cultural enrichment and sustainable development.

It was also a chance to hear from a 2024 King’s Award for Enterprise winner for Innovation and International Trade from SureScreen Diagnostics.

Ashfield District Council continues to champion the District for ‘economic growth and place’ - a key Council priority.

Cllr Matthew Relf, Executive Lead for Growth, Regeneration and Local Planning, said:

“This inspiring event was the perfect opportunity to hear from the best in the business and learn more about driving your business forward.
“Our guest speakers really were insightful and I would like to thank them for taking the time to join us and share their knowledge. I know many will have come away from this event with new contacts and ideas of how to improve their business and drive it forward.”
