Resident prosecuted for breaching Community Protection Notice
Anthony Morrell, of no fixed abode was issued the Community Protection Notice by Ashfield District Council for causing significant disruption to the lives of others. His violent behaviour resulted in criminal damage, physical and verbal threats to local residents and assaulting a Police Officer.
After breaching the order by entering Coxmoor and causing a nuisance in Sutton and Kirkby town centres, the Councils Community Protection team took swift action and applied for a Criminal Behaviour Order. Nottingham Magistrates Court granted the Order which forbids Morrell from entering or being on the Coxmoor Estate, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, engaging in conduct which causes nuisance or annoyance and threatening any person living, visiting or working in Sutton and Kirby-in-Ashfield for the next three years.
He was also fined £800 for breaches of his Community Protection Notice, £400 costs and victim surcharge of £90.
Councillor Helen-Ann Smith, Cabinet Member for Community Safety said:
“This is another example of Ashfield District Council taking anti-social behaviour seriously. Anthony Morrell was causing serious disruption with no regard for the impact this was having on the residents of Coxmoor. The action taken by the Community Safety team means he is no longer a threat to residents. Anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated, and action will be taken against those that continue to cause a nuisance.”
The Criminal Behaviour Order will remain in place until December 2023.
