Passing of Her Majesty the Queen

Her Majesty passed away peacefully this afternoon (Thursday 8 September 2022) at Balmoral.

The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning her loss.

Further announcements will be made in due course.

Chairman of Ashfield District Council, Councillor David Walters and Theresa Hodgkinson, CEO , said:

“We are extremely saddened to hear of the passing of Her Majesty The Queen and would like to offer our sincerest condolences to the Royal Family on behalf of Ashfield District Council.”

 

The thoughts of everyone at Ashfield District Council are with the Royal Family at this incredibly sad time.

A book of condolence will be available for residents to leave their own personal messages at the Council’s Urban Road reception from Friday 9 September between 9.00-5.00pm.

An online book of condolence is also available on the Royal Family's website.

Council Leaders and dignitaries will take part in a short wreath-laying ceremony in the morning at 9am. If people would like to bring floral tributes to mark their respects throughout the day this would be very welcomed.
